This is Lupus: A new advocacy video by LFA

SLOW DANCE

I dont usually read forwarded messages but this one's kind
of touchy, written by a teenager with cancer and sent by a
doctor.

--------------------------------

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,'Hi'
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

DOST already has broadband Network - ZTE NBN scandal

Before the ZTE proposal, DOST already proposed to NEDA same kind of project which they turned down. PREGINET is a project lead by ASTI-DOST that we use and support right now. Below is a feed from GMA news:

The network allows partners to do collaborative research and development and provides a platform for experimentation of innovative Internet applications/services, efficiently transmit and receive large amounts of data nationwide, and integrates some existing government information networks into a common network backbone via international research networks such as APAN and AI3 (Japan). Last mile connections will depend on telcos, this is where the ZTE NBN proposal will come-in, or the turned-down proposal should have.

Club Astoria

won accomodation 8days, 7nights.. choose from Bali, Indonesia; Mexico; or USA...

Its another marketing strategy from the Astoria plaza hotel owners here in Ortigas, Manila, Philippines where they call you and offer you dinner for two on their hotel, then tour you on their hotel facilities, then surprise you for a one-on-one talk just like 'Family First'. What I hate about this is not telling you the whole story or agenda. Its a waste of time for you and them. It would be rude to turn them down after giving you a dinner, right? Bottom line is you have to decide after the one-on-one marketing talk. I really don't know if thats good or bad. It has pros and cons.

Any way, they'll still gonna give you the accommodation as gifts. But there's a deadline for reservation and use. You also have to make a P5k down payment, to be reimbursed to you after the trip.

Well, its up to us if we're going to use it or not.

some of my common reference

just documenting some of the things i refer to, so i can trash my hard copy..

Solved Problem: joomla docman component problem in windows

I encoutered a problem in docman 1.3R2 component of joomla! in windows which i don't in linux.

PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare themeConfig:details_homepage in ***/components/com_docman/themes/default/themeConfig.php on line 36, referer: ***

go to that themeConfig.php file and see this:

32 var $details_updated = "1";^M
33 var $details_homepage = "1";^M
34 var $details_crc_checksum = "0";^M
35 var $details_md5_checksum = "0";^M
36 var $details_homepage = "1";^M
37 var $task_details = "1";^M

Line 36 is a duplicate of line 33, so I simply remove line 36 and save the file. DOCMan works great afterward.

My Cebu-Leyte-Samar Travel

What an experience.. the memorable one is loosing my wallet with all my money while at Super Ferry from Cebu Pier to Tacloban via Ormoc Pier, 2hrs by boat, 2 hrs by land.. Luckily, I recovered the wallet, thanks to Dr. Lawas of UPM-CPH who lend me money and his cellphone coz my stupid phone was malfunctioning. Thanks also to the good people of Leyte who found my wallet. Everything is intact inclding the money. No single cent was missing. Consequence is, I've been traveling that day from 5am, back and forth till about 8pm. (Sobrang pagod, sakit sa pwet!)

I literally sleep on different rooms each night! and different bathrooms.
March 22: DOST7 staff house
March 23: Hotel Asia, Girls' room
March 24: Hotel Asia, Vince's room
March 25: COA staff house
March 26: Hotel Alejandro
March 27: Ur Home Pensione House
March 28: Departure

Visit my Album

The travel is worth everything, I had d opportunity to shoot on tourist spots.

3 word promotional by-lines

Have you noticed promotional or marketing by-lines these days? Whether its a product, a service, or a project, 3-word by-lines is in!

Here are some samples:

SourceForge: Create. Participate. Evaluate.
Picasa: Find, Organize, Share.
YouTube: Watch, Upload, Share.
Mercury Drug: Call. Order. Pickup.
Blogger: Write. Share. Post.

So we created and decided:
Herdin Neon: Connect. Share. Collaborate.

NeON@sourceforge

Recently, I also created a project @sourceforge, the largest repository of Open Source code and applications available on the Internet. We opened our application called herdinneon (network-of-networks) to the open-source development community.

SourceFORGEnet

Participate and evaluate, create a SF.net account and join the neon development community and help improve it.

Check it out. Download.

HERDIN@wikipedia

Weeks ago, I created an article about HERDIN (Health Research & Development Information Network) @ wikipedia, the most popular and mostly used free open-content online encyclopedia in the web.

Here, I experienced the technicality of posting, their codes, standards, policies, and be criticized and supported by wikipedia editors.

Thanks to other community members for updating, supporting, and attributing additional source.

DOST@google_earth

Last August 15, 06, I created a place mark of DOST (Department of Science & Technology, Main building at Bicutan, Taguig, where I work) @ google earth for distinction.

You need to be a google earth community member to make placemarks, be specific of the place, create a kmz file and upload it at keyhole, not direct on google earth application.

Check it out.

PCHRD@25 - Pres. GMA delivers message

President Arroyo signs the pchrd@25 mosaic collage
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo delivered the Keynote Address for the 25th anniversary of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development(PCHRD) before a multisectoral gathering of health researchers, healthworkers and educators last March 16 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria.

The Philippine Council for Health Research and Development, which wasestablished in 1982, is one of twenty agencies under the Department ofScience and Technology and has been at the helm in charting the directionsthat health researches should take to best address the issues and problems afflicting the Philippine health scenario.

PCHRD's priorities when it comes to supporting programs and projects have evolved through the years. One program, however, which has been consistently in the Council's priorities and which supports the administrations current 8 for 08 mantra is the herbal research program. The Council's venture into pharmaceutical research, especially in herbal medicine, has to date resulted toproduction technologies for the lagundi tablet and syrup (anti-cough andanti-asthma), sambong tablet (diuretic), akapulko lotion (anti-fungal), and ampalaya tablet (for Type II Diabetes Mellitus).

PCHRD is currently highly involved in marshalling support for the passage of the Philippine National Health Research System Act, which will consolidate and streamline all research activities in the country as well as secure sustainable resources for priority health researches. PCHRD and its partners, the Department of Health, the Commission on Higher Education, and the University of the Philippines Manila, are in fact moving to have the Bill certified as urgent to enable the country torespond satisfactorily to health emergencies, such as environmental disasters, the social and economic costs of new and old diseases, and the continuing exodus from the country of skilled health researchers andworkers.
